Prospus is pleased to announce that we have reached a milestone: 50 full-time employees in our India delivery center. While our revenue has doubled year after year since our opening in April 2011, our employee trajectory has been a bit slower. “We have moved aggressively into rapid app development technologies, which means every employee today is nearly 3x more productive than they were in 2011,” said Prospus President and Founder, Marc Ragsdale.
Prospus opened its Noida-based delivery center in 2011 to augment our Portland-based efforts. By 2012 we had shifted 80% of our development off-shore while retaining our project, sales and administrative staff in Portland. “Our shift to India was essential for taking on new technologies,” Ragsdale shared. Prior to 2011, Prospus was focused exclusively on enterprise web app development. Within six months in India, we were able to harness India’s deep talent pool to launch our first mobile project to the App and Play Stores in the edtech space.
In 2011 Prospus India started with just 8 engineers, specializing in enterprise technologies such as Java and web skills like PHP, Python, and Javascript. Since then, Prospus has diversified into mobile, CRM, and digital marketing projects with 50 India-based employees. “Our web team is more focused on building performance-tested, single-page apps in JS and Angular,” Ragsdale shared. “The trend is toward always-online browser-based apps that perform as well as desktop software,” he added. Presently, over 60% of the company is focused on technologies that we didn’t start within in 2011.
“I have been with Prospus three years now, and I am excited about the opportunities here”, Prospus employee Arti Sharma said. “I have learned so many new technologies and see us growing in new directions every day”, she added. Prospus has an above-average retention rate for an Indian IT company, which management believes is due to the aspirational work culture and employee-centric policies. Prospus provides a flexible leave policy, challenging projects, and extremely generous annual performance increments. “Our employees tell me directly they want to stay because they love being here and feel secure”, Ragsdale added.
