In November 2014, Prospus visited Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan to meet with key officials at Gaba Corporation, one of the foremost one-to-one English learning providers in Japan, and EFL Technologies, which creates world-class digital English language learning solutions. Marc Ragsdale, founder, and president of Prospus, along with the company’s business manager, Neeraj Mahant, who is based out of the India office, met with the heads of Gaba’s Academic Development Section to discuss the latest developments across Gaba’s 42 learning studios across Japan. The major topic of discussion during these meetings was integrating internet technology into classrooms to enhance learning.
EFL Technologies has been developing digital learning solutions for foreign language learners for over 60 years. The company is based in Japan and works with global clients to develop their software and learning platforms. Prospus has been working with EFL Technologies on their software development needs for the past three years and the purpose of this November’s visit was for Prospus to sign a fresh contract with EFL Technologies to rebuild an integral part of their digital English learning software. This will include advanced proprietary, research-based language tools accessible by both web and mobile (Android and iOS).
The increased emphasis that Gaba has placed on bringing technology into classroom learning is a very positive sign. “ICT intervention in traditional classroom learning can potentially bring great outcomes for both students as well as teachers by keeping students involved and motivated while increasing the standards of instruction currently prevalent in English language learning,” Marc said while addressing members of Gaba’s Academic Development Section.
While in Japan, Prospus also attended the JALT 2014 conference —the 40th Annual International Conference on Language Teaching and Learning & Educational Materials Exhibition—along with EFL technologies. The informative conference took place November 21–24 at the Tsukuba International Congress Center (Epochal Tsukuba) Tsukuba, Ibaraki, Japan.
After a successful visit to Japan, Prospus continues to work with clients globally to provide web and mobile technology solutions across a wide range of industries. Having worked with EFL Technologies for the past three years, Prospus now looks to leverage its learning software expertise to further expand its offerings in the educational sector.
