Prospus Goes Remote!

By August 29, 2021September 18th, 2022Announcements

With the onset of COVID-19 in early 2020, workspaces were forced to shut. Anyone who could work from home started to almost immediately. Offices had to figure out new ways to communicate, collaborate and manage teams virtually. It was a major shift for businesses, employees, and contractors alike, not to mention the families behind htem.

It was only a matter of time before business leaders from across the globe started to figure out the work-from-home arrangement has benefits. This is when the announcements started pouring in. The vast majority of employees polled embraced WFH citing the better work-life balance and end of such nuisances as travel time and traffic. Many top-tier executives declared support for a permanent, work-from-home (WFH) workforce, citing the benefits in productivity, mental health, and reduced office costs. But many others resisted, including notable heads in the tech industry, which is arguable the most suitable for a WFH culture.

Although the work-from-home culture was already in place at Prospus before the pandemic, COVID 19 accelerated it. Currently, almost 100 percent of our full-time employees and contractors are allowed to work from home. We have only retained a small but dedicated administrative staff at our Noida-based headquarters. And contrary to popular belief, doing so has only resulted in a significant increase in productivity. According to our president, Marc Ragsdale, productivity is up across the board and staff are more engaged.

According to Global Workplace Analytics, only 3.6 % of the workforce in the US worked from home in 2018. They are now estimating between a 25-30 percent increase by the end of 2021. The two massive shifts that are likely going to accelerate this trend are:

  1. Employees want to work from home and are seeing the benefits of working remotely. According to a Gallup poll from March 30 – April 2, 2020, “Three in five U.S. workers who have been doing their jobs from home during the coronavirus pandemic would prefer to continue to work remotely as much as possible, once public health restrictions are lifted.”
  2. Employers are garnering positive reception all over. This is primarily because they are competing on new trends such as an offer to let employees work from home.

That being said, Prospus took the time and effort to build its own in-house time tracking tool that it aims to release in the near future. The development of this tool comes at a time when most of our employees are working and collaborating remotely.

Some of the big companies that made announcements about working from home permanently are: Twitter, Coinbase, Facebook and Alphabet (Google).

The most essential gear that you need to get started on your work-from-home experience are as follows:
