With the onset of COVID-19 in early 2020, workspaces were forced to shut. Anyone who could work from home started to almost immediately. Offices had to figure out new ways to communicate, collaborate and manage teams virtually.
It was only a matter of time before business leaders from across the globe started to figure out the whole work-from-home thing has benefits. This is when the announcements started pouring in. Many top tier executives stated that working from home would permanently become part of their companies’ future.
Although the work-from-home culture was already in place at Prospus, COVID 19 accelerated the trend to a much larger extent. Currently, almost 100 percent of our full time employees are allowed to work from home. Also, contrary to popular belief, doing so has only resulted in a significant increase in productivity.
According to Global Workplace Analytics, only 3.6 % of the workforce in the US worked from home in 2018. They are now estimating between a 25-30 percent increase by the end of 2021.
The two massive shifts that are likely going toaccelerate this trend are:
- Employees want to work from home and are seeing the benefits of working remotely. According to a Gallup poll from March 30 – April 2, 2020, “Three in five U.S. workers who have been doing their jobs from home during the coronavirus pandemic would prefer to continue to work remotely as much as possible, once public health restrictions are lifted.”
- Employers are garnering positive reception all over. This is primarily because they are competing on new trends such as an offer to let employees work from home.
That being said, Prospus took the time and effort to build its own in-house time tracking tool that it aims to release in the near future. The development of this tool comes at a time when most of our employees are working and collaborating remotely.
