Prospus unveiled its new face this month. We gave our website a new, refreshed look and had great fun doing it like we do with every other project! We have developed hundreds of sites for our clients, but updating our own site was a rather challenging proposition—being our own client didn’t seem to be all that easy, we must admit! But finally, after nearly a year of delays, we have a website that reflects who we are.
We formalized a project plan—like we do with all our client projects—setting up formal deadlines and build/release dates and selecting a winning project team to do the honors. Marc Ragsdale spearheaded art direction and he, as he usually is, was meticulous about every facet down to the finest details. “I’m a perfectionist, and that often works against me when I’m working on personal projects. The website for my own company, unfortunately, falls into that category”, said Ragsdale.
Once the plan was formalized, we began the project discovery phase—listing the content, design and development schemes; assessing and estimating schedules, timelines, labor requirements, and costs. Because it was personal, nearly everyone had something exciting to add and the development team welcomed all thoughts. “The fact that we ran this like a traditional client project is why we actually finished it”, said Ragsdale, with chuckle.
We thoroughly followed our formal design and development process, and though it was an internal project, the urgency of the design, development and testing teams was commendable. We’re proud to say the site went live on the scheduled date, and we’re quite happy with the results! We’d love to hear from our visitors; what do you think?
